The big tomato finds a home! (Six Apart acquires a tomato)

After posting about the giant tomato, I got a call from my friend Jacob Kaplan-Moss. Apparently his folks were friends with the restaurant owner who originally bought the tomato and Jacob wanted to re-purchase the tomato as a gift for his dad. Since Jacob now lives in Lawrence, Kansas he needed some help acquiring the tomato.

Luckily, the folks at Six Apart kindly offered to temporarily house the tomato in the basement of the Six Apart building (at 4th and Brannen). A group of us moved the tomato (on a dolly) the block and a half to the Six Apart office and into the basement.

All in all, a very nice end to the giant tomato story.

That's a great gift for 5 min. Then the novelty wares off and you stand around thinking "WTF am I going to do with a giant tomato? This gift is a damn burden. It doesn't go with my decor. Will the garbage truck accept this? Do I have to call a special garbage pick up service? How much is that going to cost?"
